Actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, are no strangers to life’s curveballs. As the parents of four children, they have to be prepared for every challenge or unexpected development the world throws their way. However, nothing could ready them for the revelation that their son RJ had been diagnosed with autism.
“We had a moment of severe sadness,” Holly tells Oprah.
At first, Holly says, they thought they could love the autism away, or banish it. “I mean, I did everything, okay? We had people come pray, lay hands on him. I mean, there was everything we could do,” she says. “But in the end, it’s about access to resources and therapies, and we were blessed to have that.”
In this candid, personal moment, Holly and Rodney open up about the whole experience.
