Malcolm-Jamal Warner on the Complicated Legacy of The Cosby Show

Starting in 2014, many people learned for the first time that the iconic comedian Bill Cosby had been accused of drugging and raping women. Since then, more women have come forward, sharing their stories of alleged abuse.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo on The Cosby Show, opened up to Oprah: Where Are They Now? about how the press covered his statements in the aftermath of the Cosby scandal. Malcolm-Jamal generated some controversy in October 2015, when he told an Associated Press reporter that he would agree with the assertion that the show’s legacy had been “tarnished.” He’s since walked back that statement. Here, he explains how his thinking on the subject has changed since that particular comment was reported around the world.
